About Me
Welcome, and thank you for stopping by!
I’m Daniel Lu, a seasoned VFX artist with over 21 years of professional experience in feature films and television. My work has contributed to several high-profile projects, some of which have been nominated or shortlisted for VES, Emmy, and Academy Awards in various visual effects categories.
Currently, I serve as the Rigging Supervisor and CG Asset Lead at Soho VFX in Toronto, Canada. I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside this exceptional team, transforming from a small group of passionate artists into a world-class visual effects studio. My role focuses on building custom tools for the 3D pipeline, developing department protocols to streamline workflows, and providing technical supervision of CG assets. My expertise lies in rigging and modeling across a wide range of 3D asset types, including characters, mechanical props, and environments.
Beyond production, I’ve also shared my knowledge as a college professor mentoring many students and shaping curriculum for postgraduate and diploma courses. Helping aspiring artists launch exciting careers in VFX as been very rewarding.
Additionally, I’m thrilled to present my personal library of base mesh models, designed to serve as foundational resources for 3D artists and their projects. You can explore my base mesh catalogue at Basemesh3D.com.
Thank you again for visiting—I look forward to connecting with you!
